Budapest, 20-21 April 2011

In April 2011, EULAR together with the Hungarian Association of Rheumatologists and the Fit for Work Europe Coalition organised a conference under the patronage of the Hungarian Presidency of the EU. The conference “Burden of rheumatoid and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs): Challenges in work capacity and prevention of disability in the EU” was held in Budapest. The aim of the event was to present evidence of RMDs and its impact on disability, as well as to discuss possible policy initiatives to tackle these issues.

As a result of the conference, representatives of Member States and stakeholders signed a declaration, calling on the EU and the national governments to recognise the socio-economic impact of RMDs on the European workforce and to increase cooperation aiming to improve the prevention of disability caused by RMDs.
