The EULAR PARE Community
EULAR PARE is the network of national organisations of People with Arthritis/Rheumatism across Europe, united to ensure the voice of people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) is heard and has influence among decision makers within Europe, and create powerful alliances that will make a difference to their lives.
To achieve this, the committee organises a range of high-quality activities and programmes for its community.
The EULAR Young PARE Community
Young PARE aims to improve the quality of life of young people (18 to 35 years old) with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) by raising the profile of these conditions, and by creating a network of individuals who work in European countries on behalf of young people with RMDs.
Discover the EULAR PARE Community at:
- The EULAR Annual European Conference of PARE
The EULAR Annual European Conference of PARE is a EULAR-only network event and takes place once a year in or near a European city location.
- The EULAR European Congress of Rheumatology
The EULAR PARE sessions in the programme at the European Congress of Rheumatology attracts a broad community, including dedicated representatives of patient organisations who use their acquired knowledge to educate and influence a wide range of stakeholders about rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs).
We encourage the submission of abstracts to the patient perspective / PARE research track, showcasing activities and research bearing on the patient perspective and interest.
Every year EULAR awards a number of bursaries to the presenting author for an abstract accepted for oral or poster presentation at the congress. EULAR PARE members and patients may apply for bursary under the according category following the submission of an abstract.
PARE Engagement Programme
The programme has been renamed as the "EULAR PARE Engagement Programme". A review of these visits have now allowed EULAR to develop the programme even further with the aim of making the visits more effective and visible.
HarmonicSS is a private-public funded research project entitled HARMONIsation and integrative analysis of regional, national and international cohorts on Sjörgen's Syndrome (pSS) working towards improved stratification, treatment and health policy-making disease.
- EULAR PARE Knowledge Tranfer Programme
Every year, EULAR grants a set amount to its knowledge transfer programme. The programme is designed to support patient organisations that wish to further develop their skillset through applying lessons learned by other organisations in the EULAR network.
- Patient Research Partners (PRP)
A related initiative that EULAR has supported in the recent past is the establishment of a EULAR PARE network of trained patient research partners. This network of currently 59 competent patient representatives can be contacted whenever a need for reviewers of scientific research projects or active participation of trained patient research partners is required.
EULAR PARE Task Force brings experts in rheumatology fields together to share expertise and facilitate best practice exchange and ongoing medical development.
- EULAR PARE Study Group
EULAR PARE Study Group is a focus group in the area of people with arthritis and rheumatism.
EULAR study groups are established networks in their respective fields and play an active part in the research and treatment of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.

The EULAR Committees regularly establish and publish recommendations for the treatment of various rheumatic disorders. Each of these recommendations are developed by a Task Force of specialists in their field.
EULAR Member Organisations
Supported by its members, EULAR aims to reduce the burden of rheumatic diseases on the individual and society and to improve the treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal diseases.
Each year, PARE produces newsletters which are distributed to the PARE member organisations, updating the network on all activities related to patients.
World Arthritis Day (WAD)
Celebrated on 12 October, World Arthritis Day aims to raise awareness of arthritis and other rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) all over the world.
Since 2010, EULAR organises an advocacy event around this annual event, aiming to bring together the RMD community, EU and national policy-makers as well as a number of stakeholders to discuss relevant policy issues affecting people with RMDs and other chronic conditions.
Patient communities are invited to join by supporting or generating related initiatives in their countries.
